Small Town Cheerleader Going To Big City Parade

On August 3rd through the 6th eight members of the Midget Cheer Squad went to a UCA sleepover camp at Rutgers. Our goal was to hone our skills and bring back new material to share with the other squad members. At UCA camp you are taught several dances sidelines, stunts and cheer routines. The days begin at 8:00 am and ends at 9:00 pm. Every minute of your day is scheduled. There is very little time for play or practice. At the end of camp everyone can tryout for the camp All Stars. In doing so, you receive a chance to win an All Star position and get invited to a Thanksgiving Day parade located somewhere in one of the major US cities depending on your age.

Three squad members took on the challenge Alex Hoffman, Marissa Dixon and Megan O’Neill tried out. They all did a tremendous job. Alex Hoffman made the squad. She now has the opportunity to cheer at the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia. The event will take four days of early morning and early evening rehearsals to put the program together. (November 20th – November 23rd)

Alex Hoffman has been cheering for four years. Her position on the squad is one of a flyer. To be a flyer you need to have trust in your bases and dedication in your execution skills. Alex is one of the hardest workers on my team. Alex who is an eight grader tried out against High School cheerleaders. Out of the 60 or more girls that tried out she was one of the 15 cheerleaders to win and go on. I know she will go and give it her all given the chance.
Of course there is always an expense. This is once in a life time opportunity.

If you would like to donate and help Alex realize her dream please send donations to P O Box 374 Metuchen. Address your envelope to Metuchen Pop Warner C/O Alex Hoffman. We thank you in advance.
